Alicia Wendolowski

My journey to personal training and teaching started in 2000 after a routine physical. At 5’-2” and 235 lbs., my doctor warned it would not be long before my obesity would affect my life beyond my physical appearance.  Testing showed precursors to Type 2 Diabetes and the weight’s strain on my joints and cardiovascular system would soon leave permanent, long term damage to my health. I was 26 years old and unable to walk up a flight of stairs without struggle. I left the doctor’s office feeling overwhelmed but ready to stop the downward spiral. I began by making changes to my diet and started losing weight. Next,  I took yoga classes, and my weight loss continued. Six months into my journey I enrolled in the teacher training program at the yoga studio where I was taking classes, and the rest, shall we say, is history!

Since my initial weight loss, I have studied and lived a sustainable, healthy lifestyle. I have embraced a “let’s see what this body can do” attitude and in the process, have become an avid triathlete! I also enjoy training for and racing in a multitude of other events, including running, cycling and cyclocross.

Through my personal journey, I have learned how to make permanent healthy changes in my life. I have also enjoyed inspiring others by sharing my story and knowledge.
